Yes this is an Imperial Unit mark: "P.D.G.8." is Zentral-Pferde Depot (Central Horse Depot), Guard, Weapon #8. Most probably a Guard Divisional level marking......one of our other members may have better insight into the nature of this unit.
Can't tell from your picture it the marking above was stamped over some other marking.
