One just has to let go of the concept that ALL Lugers are meant to be collectors items and left original. Just like other guns, Lugers are also tools, and were meant to be shot. Adding suppression just makes them more FUN to shoot. That is why.
All that is true,
but how much fun is a manually operated suppressed 9mm luger?
I have no reluctance in modifying a luger if there is a reason-so that "concept" has been let go of!

The luger is recoil operated and the weight of a suppressor will not allow it to function as a semi auto.

My point is that the luger is not a good choice for suppression, use of sub-sonic ammo will only increase the function problems, due to the reduced recoil impulse of the lower velocity round.
There are more suitable hosts if one wants to shoot suppressed.

But they do "look" neat, so a light weight dummy suppressor might satisfy the urge to suppress. JMHO

Here is what a luger looks like with a dummy Maxim type suppressor. Maxim is close in vintage to the luger, and may even have been used with one at some time.
