I think that David refers to the later WW-II era military proofed Mauser pistols... The 1941 byf mismatch I have and the 1937 almost matched may be my best shooter grade Lugers.

Mauser (and others) manufactured Lugers for commercial sale after WW-II.

You may still find Russian Capture pistols of this era that are reasonably priced. They become available from time to time...
