I would imagine if you read the paint stripper warnings on some of the brands they will say what they are bad for and what they can be used for. It is hard for me to imagine that any of the strippers would damage the metal enough. But if you start on an unexposed area, under the grips and test the stripper ahead of time, then you can see if any damage would occur.


In ref to shooting best after the .22. I read a story years ago, that the Rhodesian (sp?) combat pistol shooting team had major problems in obtaining ammo, but they dry fired, practiced in holding, shooting and aiming and they came in the top five (I think they got 2nd or 3rd place) in a major US meet.


I used the method when I had time and it always improved my shooting before i went to the range.
