Sheepherder, no problem. I am probably orler and grumpier than you. was born during WW2.

John James told me years ago that holsters during the alphabet commercial year tend to be built to accommodate 4 or 5 inch barrels. A 5 inch would handle 4 3/4 Swiss style and early 7.65 models. A 4 inch would handle the various <100 mm lengths. There were an erratic range of barrels. Mine, 3992 I has a 3 7/8 barrel. And I do know how to measure a barrel and that was with a calibrated caiiper.

I owned a Heiser that would accommodate up to a 4 3/4 bbl. Hot sure the markings were not fake.

The commercial Lugers are a fascinating sub-species and the alphabet Lugers exhibit very fine craftsmanship in general and a subtle bunch of weird variations.
