A valid consideration, but not a necessity. One's Will could specify how to handle the estate. There would be an executor and no one else need worry about it.

You are missing the point. The family and/or executor probably will not have the contacts and collecting experience to properly dispose of a collection. That is why it behooves collectors to do it right and make sure all parties are taken care of...interaction with the buyers so they are assured they are getting the real deal, and make sure they pay full and fair value that will be passed on to the estate.
