Ed,

The "dead officer" could have been a US officer who picked up this PX gun and accidently shot himself to death with it and some lucky GI happened to come along...not being able to help the poor soul out...but was able to liberate a nice post-war HK... (Just pulling your chain...)

Can you post photos of your holster...any markings on the back and inside the holster, along the back of the holster just below the hinge. If your holster is also a HK marked/proofed holster, value could be as high as $ 800-$ 1,000...
