I agree with Howard. The grips are modern aftermarket, but the checkering looks like it was done by convicts with nail files. If you want that beautiful wood to match the rest of your Luger, send the grips off to Hugh Clark to be refinished and recheckered in the correct pattern. Those grips do have beautiful grain in them... most likely walnut... but whoever checkered them was a rank amatuer... A really nice looking commercial. Congrats on the acquisition.
