KRIEGHOFF grips are not really of bakelite, they started to use that sort of brown plastic more or less at the same time as MAUSER did, as soon as they realized that wood was becoming scarce while plastic was more durable and less expensive.
They initially used two different sorts of brown grips: Fine checked and Coarse checked.
Fine checked ones were made by Hermann Ritzmann & Sohne with the HRS hallmark cast in each grip on the reverse side, and became predominant in the 1936 two digit pieces and apparently ]they were phased out prior to the 1937 production. [/B]
