If yas gots to ask, you just don't know! (okay, i don't know either)...
But, my guess is that he put in a different router, which 'talked' differntly to the server and vice-versa, I believe it started acting up when John "improved" it with new circuits and a new router a couple of months ago. Sometimes the darn things just don't interface well.
Either that or he gave the squirrels that supply the power more Mountain Dew for energy
