Ron: I gave this information to Dwight and showed him the gun, but here it is anyway: I am the current caretaker of American Eagle Luger # 6197. It has all matching numbers and the takedown lever is numbered on the round end on the right side. It has a type II safety lever, and no "Germany" or proof marks. Blue and straw are very good, and there is no obvious sign of polishing or refinishing and there are signs of holster wear. However, the machined area under the safety lever appears to be partially blue, maybe just oxidized, so ???? The magazine that came with it has the wood bottom, and no markings whatsoever. The seller of the gun told me that it came from the collection of Herbert A. Lyman of Los Angeles. He also told me that it was consecutively numbered to the one in the Springfield Armory's collection, but I suspect he was confused with the Bannerman list. Best wishes for a Happy New Year to all. Regards, R. David
