Rod...it would naturally destroy the convenience of the arm, the primary reason for a handgun.

The Imperial German Navy used the stocked 6" Navy Luger as a boarding weapon and for shore parties. Easy and small to store on shipboard or submarine but could be made into a short range rifle .
