Ed, Costanzo, on page 86 shows an eagle RC that is somewhat different from the one you have in that both letters are upper case. He says that they indicate a Simson factory rework proof used on all military, commercial and police models from 1920 to 1932. Obviously the photo you have is that of a Simson and not an Erfurt so there must be more to the RC stamp than what is in the FAQ's. Supposedly this stamping RC, Revisions Commission, is also found on all of the legendary Spandau Lugers. It is supposed to mean that the weapon failed to pass inspection for one reason or another and was then re-inspected and corrected if necessary, and placed back in circulation. I would assume that in the photos you provided the barrel was out of tolerance and was replaced by Simson and so marked. Of special interest is the Rc is not the one he lists, a typo on his part or a variation with a different meaning? There may be some differences in the actual meaning of the Eagle Rc and the more common Crown RC which appears in two variations of script letters.
