I also would love to know the history of this gun.
The New Zealand troops were in the pacific war very early after Pearl, in fact my dad was one of them.

There are also a lot of Dutch prople in New Zealand, many of whom had escaped the Japanese in the early stages of the War.

Sadly, one can only surmise about its origins.

What I find interesting is that the gun "fits together" insomuch as I have a 1906 Dutch first contract, with a 1914 dated barrel, a fortress unit mark, struck out and replaced with a later Infantry unit in a february 1942 Holster probably with a arsenal made up cleaning rod.

No wonder the other collectors at the Auction thought the gun was phony and the reason why I was the only bidder and bought it for the reserve price.
