This is just a suggestion, but get some fine steel wool, soak with break free, remove grips and magazine, and really scrub out the magazine well. In nearly 100 years there might be some build up. Also try the magazine without the grips installed. Grips might be binding the magazine. If the magazine does not bind with grips removed then replace one, tighten, and see if it binds. Then try the other. If one binds (or both) then slowly release tension until magazine is loose. If that is the problem get small thin rubber faucet washers, place between grip and frame, then retighten.
