George is undoubtably right, he usually is but in the case that the spring is useable you must start the flat spring tip in but on top of the ledge where it ultimately rests and press gently while guiding the hooked portion of the spring onto the round keeper pin underneath in the recessd well. . These must be simultanious and if done right it should slide into place. Be carefull as the spring is brittle and many people are clumsy and break them. I put my index finger in the middle, pressing down and hold the rear of the spring where it catches the bolt with my thumb. Try it ! Should work unless George's prophecy is true....Jerry Burney
