Are all rear axle pins stamped in the same location? (Military vs. Commercial) I can't remember reading anything regarding variations of serial stamps on the ends or shaft of the pins. As to the pistol David mentions..anything over $1K that I am seriously interested in always gets a pretty thorough 'shake-down'.
