I remember getting a "surplus" 1911 and M1 Carbine thru the NRA Civilian Marksmanship Program, received through the US mail, for, if I remember correctly, $12.50 & $17.50. I was pleasantly surprised when I got them, that both appeared in almost unused condition. This was in 1961.
