I was probably 13 or 14 when my father explained the technical difference between the terms.

About 20 years ago I worked for an Air Force Chief Master Sargeant named Bucholtz. Everyone called him "Chief Buck-holtz". I asked him one day if anyone ever called him "Book-oltz" and I'll always remember his reply. He said "At home, everyone does but you can't correct the entire Air Force".

Last night I watched a bit of the "History Channel" and the narrator insisted on calling Eva Braun "Eva Brawn" when her name should be pronounced "Brown". Even the "History Channel" gets it wrong!

In truth, you would think that collectors of firearms would know the difference between "clips" and "magazines" but there are always new collectors who don't because they are learning. I don't see anything wrong with gently educating them in the proper terminology but it shouldn't become an irritation because it's an up-hill battle and, as the Chief said, you can't correct everyone.
