Best shot ever was with an S&W M29-2. But since this is a Luger forum, my best shot with a Luger was years ago in Utah. Some friends and I were shooting cans at a dump site out in the country side. We spotted a pheasant sitting down at the bottom of the hill, about 40 yards. My two buddies unloaded a 44 Ruger single action, a 357 single action, and a cap and ball revolver at it, all to no avail. The bird sat there more or less in shell shock from the noise. When the noise died away I pulled out a 30 caliber M1920 with 4 inch barrel and nailed it on the first shot. (Legal to take a pheasant with a handgun in that time and place.)
Now at a time like this, you don't say a word. If you start talking, they'll begin to think about how much luck was involved...
