RK,

You may or may not have feeding difficulties with the .45 185 gr swc bullets. Not all 1911s feed every bullet well. The older GI guns are quite reliable with 230 gr. roundnose bullets but can be troublesome with swc bullets. Newer guns are generally throated for better (but not absolute) reliability with swc bullets.

Over 25 years ago I settled on hard cast 230 gr. roundnose lead bullets and 4.6 grains of bullseye using a taper crimping die. These reloads are absolutely reliable in my old and new guns. This load is just about equivalent to commercial hardball in power and very accurate in a good tight gun.
