Unspellable,
Had a similar experience as yours. My coworker was a blowhard hunter with a scoped .308. He was very proud of his abilities and challenged me to a lunch hour contest at a local range thinking he was unbeatable. His choice was a smallbore target at 100 yards, one shot. My gun was an iron sighted Ruger SA .44 magnum.
I was up first while he was snickering. I stood up and fired an offhand shot using a two hand hold. It hit the 9 ring about 2" from the center (dang lucky shot I admit). After looking at the hole through the spotting scope, he refused to shoot--he suddenly had to attend a very important meeting. He never bragged again (to my face anyway).
