Some years ago in Arizona I first went hunting with a handgun and no rifle. My hunting buddies laughed. I made a down hill shot at a javalina running broadside at about 50 yards With a S&W 29. I put a cast bullet between two ribs, through all the cartilage on top of the heart and out between two ribs. The javaline collapsed in the space of three feet. I didn't spoil so much as two ounces of meat. It was a young boar that dressed out to 36 lb which is fairly good sized for Arizona. (The Texas contingent will tell you they get bigger.)
