Some years ago in Arizona I first went hunting with a handgun and no rifle. My hunting buddies laughed. I made a down hill shot at a javalina running broadside at about 50 yards With a S&W 29. I put a cast bullet between two ribs, through all the cartilage on top of the heart and out between two ribs. The javaline collapsed in the space of three feet. I didn't spoil so much as two ounces of meat. It was a young boar that dressed out to 36 lb which is fairly good sized for Arizona. (The Texas contingent will tell you they get bigger.) My buddies with rifles had nothing to show.
