* Coupled with Tom's observation, the flap is sown to the body using an intermediate, attaching strip of leather consistent with WW1 style/vintage holsters.
* Stating the obvious, then, the original 19?8 date is likely 1918.
* IMO, as a general rule of thumb, a Police holster will command approximately 20% above a standard Army style holster of equal condition. A Weimar rework of a WW1 Artillery to Police use is not a common holster seen; but, similarly, not a rare holster. Although correct, the extra rework holes detract from the overall appearance and has to be factored into the basic realistic market price expected.
