Ron, The photo Fritz provided was quite unusual, split and sewn along the bottom. The previous one's I had observed were completely formed along the bottom. Molded so to speak.
The material has a plastic quality to it, opaque and when tapped sounds hard.
I suspect both Ron's are onto the wear theory with some justification. This boot carries no weight and in reality receives very little wear. The stock iron just sort of floats around in it.I am certain that the stock iron, being as sharp as it is, was cause for concern.
As for color, I too noticed most seem to be natural.
As Tom noted, he has seen both red and blue.I don't know why they would bother to color them.
