I think it is more for dealers than collectors, i.e. a dealer shows number 3456a and a guy buys it, takes his mismatched part off and replaces it with the good part from the dealer, returns the gun and now has a non-mismatch and the dealer was stuck...
I don't know how often this has actually happened, but once would be enough to make a dealer leery.
