Hi Kidvett,

Estimated production of the 1916 Navy pieces was 7000 + according to J.Still; accordingly, I would opine that your gun was a "spring chickie", produced sometime during the second or third month of 1916; this assumes, of course, a "straight line" production based on mean numbers. We know that this was, in fact, not the case, but no one seems to have better numbers.
As we do not have any day to day or month to month records of production, this would be about as tight as I think one could be comfortable with dating the piece.
