Charles, If I were looking for one book to start with it would have to be one of Jan Stills. He has four of them and each one is segmented to a specific era. Imperial, Weimar, Third Reich and Axis Pistols. So if your interest is in say Third Reich pistols you can buy one book that covers that whole Luger subject. If I am not mistaken most of his books are currently available from his website and they are $65.00 or so. A smokin bargain in my opinion.

I have invested many hundreds if not thousands in all the reference material I have and not only is it extremely interesting to read but has saved me on many occasions from grevious financial error.

Ron is correct, you will not get anything for $20.00 worth having and a little larger investment is necessary in this day and age of high dollar books.

If you are truely on this tight of a budget I highly recommend you stay away from Luger's altogether. It is an expensive hobby.

One other thing about purchasing a Luger book or almost anything else connected with Lugers, you can always sell it and get your money back. Jerry Burney
