Birdman, here is a quickie back;

1. The 8,83 is the land to land for the rifeling

2. The parts stamped 55 is the last two of the serial number, this number should be on many different parts.

3. Can you give us more information?

Types of proofs or markings on right and left? If you came through www.lugerforum.com then on your left is a technical section that can help you out.

Is it marked as to a suffix under the serial number?

Does it have anthing on the toggle (on the top part of the gun)?

Is the receiver marked with a number, such as 1918, 1942 etc?
