When I got home this afternoon, I pulled several Lugers from the vault and looked at the breechblock. Sure enough, the number was there and matched the pistols. I don;t remember having noticed this anbd if I did, i don't remember, but the number is there.

Thanks for all the responses to this "dumb" question which I should have know so easily.
