Found some more info. about this very small contract in V. Bobba's book, on pages 132-333.

Bobba says they are typically in the # 3600 to # 3900 series and all should have a "v" suffix. But he also reports some errant numbers of # 1920v and # 598v...

There are reported to be four (4) variations of this contract gun : Two with or without the Swiss cross/sunburst chamber marking and two with or without the writing of "Kal. 7.65" on the left side of the barrel.

All should have the Mauser banner on the rear toggle (small banner until the end of 1935 and larger banner starting in 1936).

I had a chance to see a real nice, honest pistol last week that a local guy has. These contract guns should also have the E/N proof above the left side frame serial number and should also have an "upside-down" E/N proof on the muzzle end of the barrel, stamped in the front sight block...

Regards,

Pete... <img border="0" alt="[typing]" title="" src="graemlins/yltype.gif" />
