Hi Russ! Pool table felt works real well...it is almost the same as the original type of mateial.. at least it looks quite close... but, ultra suede is super neat, as it is synthetic, and has the look and feel of doe skin... the best feature is that it stretches along one dimension for those difficult compound curves that alway attack on projects like this! (so does the felt,BTW) I'll go back into my lair now! Best to all...till...later...GT
