Regarding auctions, it has been my experience that anyone who auctions something off has to make more than what it is worth or they are getting a bad deal (there are costs associated with auctioning). This fact means that as a buyer you have to get a really good deal to offset that margin. Both parties can't win. Since most auctions have a reserve, the seller retains the right to refuse to sell. I am not an auction fan whatsoever.
