Though some have troubles with Norton, the 2003 - 2004 Norton Internet Security package (Firewall and Anti-Virus) has saved my PC many many times.

There are other alternatives (some free), but whatever one uses it's got to be updated often and "always up". Norton is a bit of a "pig", but it's self-updating and even blocks pop-up ads.

Virus damage is such a pain in the butt. Who are the goofballs who do that stuff anyway, they should get latrine duty in Iraq...
