Even though I have been an enthusiastic collector of Kar.98k rifles for many years, and an avid reader of German history since childhood, I never should have made many of the posts I have here. I should have just lurked and learned from the seasoned and very knowledgeable Luger collectors like yourself, and the others. You learn more by listening. The only thing I can think of in defense of myself is that I’ve noticed that the techniques for the fakers are almost identical with Mauser rifles and Lugers. More than once, I’ve merely glanced at a humped-up Luger and could tell it had been messed with.
