Roadkill, The mag that you describe for the Colt 1911, would be correct for one made from 1916, when they eliminated the lanyard loop, until ?, when they started bluing the whole tube. The original reason for the 2 tone effect (not bluing the feed lips) was that it was felt that the high temperature of the bluing bath would weaken the temper of the feed lips. Tom H.
