I actually had the experience of buying from those ads in the early 1960's. The "old Hunter" for $39.95 turned out to be a rebarrelled DWM that was reblued with a mis-matched side plate. The Portugese GNR was worth every cent of the $129.95 (two weeks salary as an intern MD). Unfortunately I sold the GNR for about $200 two years later, thinking I was making a killing, but I needed money to finish my training.
