...or maybe credit you for purchase of future e-books?

It would seem to me that the password method should allow for registration that the password has been used and therefore only one instance of that password could be used for an installation... thereby reducing the ability to pass on illegal copies... sort of the way Microsoft has required for their operating systems and software for the last year or so...
