What you said is true Ed, the .22 caliber Lugers were made by Erma post war and are blowback pistols that look like a Luger... not real Lugers.

Manufactured conversion kits do not permanently modify a Luger and can be installed temporarily for practice with .22 LR ammo. These were produced both during wartime and post-war.

There have been a few strictly custom .22 caliber conversions done to real Lugers by some gunsmiths such as this fine example in the Lugerforum Owner's Gallery from the collection of Patrick Villiers. I believe I remember that this one was done by the Lugersmith named Werle in Germany, but I am not certain about that fact.
