If it is just sitting around, I can see why you'd want to do a 70's Mauser. But as D & D said, I think a mismatch or one that has been re-blued or messed with would be a nice one to "pretty" up.

I like less rather than more engraving?

Although a scene that is surrounded by leaves or edelweiss would look nice.

Stag horn grips, not ivory tho
