Re: Range report
Yes, I used factory ammo (s&b, I think).
I'll check on the clip (I've never had the gun apart!).
No, it was weird. First, the rangemaster; (?-real young guy) came over, and asked me if it was "real".Being proud, I began to talk to him about it. A few other shooters came over and it got passed around. I showed him the markings (eagle w/ wings+ circle under{w/o mag. glass-I assume it is the classic symbol w/swt?}). The rangermaster said he had never held one before, and wondered (out loud) how many people it had killed {I DON'T want to think about that!!!}.
The gent (older guy- w/ nice lever action-oct. barrel) in the next lane, began to talk about how people shouldn't have nazi items (being 1941-war production). "We" didn't pay too much attention; he started up saying about how many people were killed/etc.. I told him that I just got it, didn't know much about it. He didn't cause a scene, I just felt bad that my new toy would cause such a reaction.
Granted, some of the alure would be where it came f/. I wish it could talk!! I am more interested in the mech/design, then any political "ideas" behind it! After shooting it, all my other auto's "feel" strange?!
I don't know if this gent was touched by the war (best not to get into it with him), or what his "problem" was. Maybe he's seen too many war movies??
This was just a min. exchange of "ideals"-no big thing. I just felt bad (1st time out).
Just w/ my experiance recieving it (ffl dealer thought it was a "modern" firearm), I quess there is alot of ignorance out there; or the world has become too PC!
In the future, I'll keep the symbols to myself.
I was just wondering if any of you have been through something like this. You can't blame the gun-blame the people how made it!
60 yrs later-I quess we/some haven't moved on.
Anyway, it's now my favorite in my collection (close race w/ the FAL). I think I'll keep it!
Sorry to be so long,I knew you would understand.
thanks..
