Reviewing and rereading all this may lead to some surprising conclusions.

Ed: You mentioned a new article being written. By whom and where to be published?

All in all, I think that the 55degree versions, as pictured in the article and Mr. Shattucks carabine are either the same gun, later reworked into a carabine or that a test luger, with a shot-out barrel, was returned to DWM and later rebuilt as a carabine.

I therefore believe that the 55degree versions are the 2 original test versions, made under GL's direct supervision.

I believe the others, including the #2, are from DWM's supply and never left DWM for US testing, but were made up for inhouse testing and production setup purposes.

Of course, I don't have a shred of evidence, other than the photographs of several .45s.

Update: The booklet arrived today. It's issue 34 of the 'Kleine Waffen - Bibliothek', by H.B. Lockhoven, published in 1969/1970.

No reference to other work. It appears that mr. Lockhoven used the original trial reports as only source.
