If it isn't too bad and the rest of the grip is ok, I wouldn't mess with it. I could probably sharpen up the checkering to match the rest of it, but you would be left with a "low spot" in your grip in that place. The only way to make everything come out even is to rechecker the whole grip. I'm like Thor in his refinshing, if its not really messed up bad, I hate to redo original grips. They will look "new", and unless your gun looks "new", won't match it. If you are having a gun refinished, and the grips are in sad shape, then I can make them match your refinished gun.
