Norm,
There are a couple of things you want to look at before even considering restoring your luger:
1. Do all the numbers match
2. Does the pistol have the correct "finish" for the time period (Salt blue, Rust blue) and is it original or has it already be refurbished.
3. It the Luger in a collector status i.e. retaining atleast 80% of its original finish, or is it a shooter luger (meaning it doesn't retain atleast 80% finish. Usually "shooter" grade lugers have a rough finish, mismatched numbers, or have been previously refinished (Which there is nothing wrong with that)
These are just a couple of things I can think of, some of the more seasoned collectors can give you better answers than I can, for I'am still learning alot of the basics of lugers. Thor is currently restoring one of my weapons right now, he comes highly recommended, check out some of his work on his website its awesome! All I can tell you Norm is research the pistol and get several opinions. Good luck and welcome to the forum!
