One gun a month seems like a moderate amount if you can afford it. After all, even the anti-gunners have pushed for legislation that would allow individuals to buy no more than one per month.

BTW, if you like military rifles, you won't be disappointed in the M1. I hope you are able to buy an Erfurt and C-96 soon. Those are on my want list too!
