A keen observation on the thick trigger! I would imagine that the since this is a non-critical dimension, it could be something as simple as a particular batch of triggers were made this way.

Here is an extract of the Offical Luger Blueprints from 1913 for those interested in the dimensions... I have not seen any later blueprints for the Mauser Lugers produced in the 30's and 40's...
