I agree with Marvin - saw several guns stored in their holsters. After years of storage rust pits will appear on the surface - if you are interested, I can send you the picture of a Dreyse mod. 1907 of mine where you can see what will happen. The leather is treated with an acid material that will cause harm to the blueing and therefore will cause rust. Even if you oil, treat and wrap the gun, the acid will affect the blueing.
Therefore I don't store any of my guns in it's holster.
