An old friend who was a deputy sheriff in WA-State once told me he liked a magazine safety on his semi-auto; in case you are struggling with a suspect and he tries to wreasle the gun out of your hand, you have a chance to hit the magazine release, hope if drops clear, and then if the gun is lost to the suspect, he can't easily shoot you with your own gun...
