Sambar stag grips are naturally that color. And darken with age. Also when handling them, the natural body oils will tend to darken them. They can be tea stained as John mentions. However, it does'nt work as well on stag as it does on ivory.
Sambar stag is banned from import, and the value is going out of sight. It's not unusual to pay $200 to $250 for a set. Depending on the pistol they are for. Ruger and Colt single action stags will sell for more. As do S&W grips.
